DJs, musicians and Oahu's top yoga instructors come together for a day of yoga at Honolulu's hippest hotel
On Saturday, October 26, 2013, an all-day yoga event will unfold at The Modern Honolulu—Hawaii’s most fashionable boutique hotel. The event—entitled “Poses emPower” is directed and organized by Power Yoga Hawaii founders Dorian and Lehua Wright. The goal is to raise awareness and funds for a variety of mental illness causes throughout Hawaii, from depression to youth bullying and suicide.
This rather unique day-long event will feature top live musicians as well as ambient DJs who will provide background sounds during the 7 classes, starting at 7:30 a.m. and going through 8:30 p.m. John Cruz, Makana and Ashley Lilinoe are a few of the acts that will help the spiritually attuned. The seven yoga teachers are from studios around Oahu that Dorian Wright felt best represented the Power Yoga philosophy.
“We have mostly ashtanga and vinyasa style teachers, from North Shore Yoga, Yoga Kula in Kailua and Purple Yoga, as well as myself and Lehua from Power Yoga here in Honolulu,” said Wright. “We pieced together what we felt to be all the best teachers on the island. Each is a little different, but follow similar veins to our style of practice.”
All classes will take place at the gorgeous Sunset Pool on The Modern Honolulu’s third level. Although semi-private and exclusive in nature, it boasts sweeping Honolulu Harbor, Waikiki Beach and ocean views. The ideal spot to “get into the flow” and calm the mind during a musically charged yoga session with one of Hawaii’s top yogi talents.
Reservations are still available at email@example.com.
Classes are $30 each, and ALL proceeds will benefit Mental Health America Hawaii. (Packages can be purchased for discounts.)
In addition, The Modern Honolulu is offering special room and/or cabana packages for those who want to camp out at the hotel for the day & night. Visit http://goo.gl/MCTUhu for more information.
