Looking for something totally unique in a Valentine's Day experience this year? Surfing Goat Dairy will host a pair of themed dinners -- one on Sunday, February 11th and another on February 14th -- to be held on the arid slopes of Haleakala. The dairy's third annual regional-themed Valentine's Day dinner will look westward to Spain for inspiration and flavor. This is an opportunity to participate in an intimate dinner (seating is limited to 36 each evening) at one of Hawaii's fastest growing culinary ventures. Surfing Goat has nearly doubled its revenue each quarter for the past 18 consecutive quarters. Get it while it's hot...and attainable!
Surfing Goat's German owners Tom and Eva Kafsack have tapped their European connections to aide in importing a whole Serrano ham, authentic chorizos (Spanish sausage), Quesos de cabral (goat cheeses) from a variety of regions, Bomba rice for paella, saffron and Spanish olive oil -- just a few of the imported ingredients.
The menu begins with an Andalucian gazpacho, to be followed by tapas that include chorizo topped with a lemon-garlic relish. An orange and red onion salad is a nice respite before the featured entrﾎes; a seafood paella that combines chicken, Tahitian shrimp, mussels, local fish, sausage, peas and bell pepper. A second paella will spotlight the Serrano ham, beans, asparagus and artichokes for a different take on the dish. Grilled garlic prawns will top off the entree list.
Dessert -- an essential on Valentine's Day -- will feature "Helado de Canela" (cinnamon ice cream), a Tarta de Limon, the selection of goat cheeses and truffles.
Space is limited, so call immediately to reserve seats. Cost is $69 per person. Call (808) 878-2870 for more reservations or more information. Surfing Goat encourages patrons to bring their own liquor or wine to accompany the meal (virgin sangria, lemonade and water will be served).
