The Hawaiian hotel group hastens their expansion across the Pacific Region
Hawaii’s venerable “ohana” hotel company has been expanding their portfolio outside of the Hawaiian Islands for over a decade. Things have progressed with abandon in the recent year, with a new property in Fiji opening its doors just prior to the New Year. Now Outrigger announces the Outrigger Mauritius Resort and Spa, located in the Indian Ocean, 1,200 miles off the southeast coast of Africa. The 181-room property is perched on the beach.
The resort group is consistent with their branding and linking of ocean culture and rich heritage-minded destinations, as well as folding those concepts into design elements.
At the ribbon cutting ceremony on April 16th were third generation Kelley family members—the founders of the 66 year old Hawaiian-based Outrigger company. These included Dr. Charles Kelley and Bitsy Kelley; president and CEO David Carey was also on hand, as was the Mauritius minister of tourism, Michael Sik Yuen. More than 350 VIP guests from China, Australia, South Africa, France and the UK were in attendance at the opening. Outrigger owns or manages 46 properties in eight countries, all in the Pacific region.
Outrigger has sent a clear message to the Hawaii community that it offers authentic cultural experiences throughout the Pacific with the brand Hawaiians are accustomed to trusting. Outrigger Enterprises touts properties in Australia, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam and China, where further expansion is expected in 2015.
