Oahu's Top Chefs Fill Your Belly For Charity

There are only a few times a year that you have the opportunity to attend a dining event that has offers a selection of dishes from your favorite Oahu eateries. But how many times are the chef-restaurant owners of 15 such restaurants on-hand to cook for you? In addition, how many times will the ticket sales contribute directly to the education of our precious youth?

Not many times is this the scenario. On Friday, April 13, 2007, the Central Union Church Preschool and Kindergarten's annual "Dazzle" fundraiser gala will be held at the Sheraton Waikiki Hotel, with a cocktail reception and silent auction beginning at 6 p.m. A sit-down dinner will commence at 7 p.m. Musical performance by one of our favorite bands, Kaukahi, will entertain guests throughout the evening.

Those restaurants whose chefs and owners will be on-hand to chop, stir, souffle and serve include D.K. Kodama of d.k. Steak House and Sansei Seafood Restaurant & Sushi Bar, chef Hiroshi from Hiroshi's Eurasian Tapas, Chai Chaowasaree of Chai's Island Bistro, Phillippe Padovani, Roy Yamaguci, and the chefs of Side Street Inn, The Pacific Club, Green Door, 12th Avenue Grill, Monarch Seafood, JW Marriott Ihilani Resort, Sheraton Waikiki and Kapiolani Community College Culinary School. Pastry chefs from Sugar Mamas, Shimazu Store and the Sheraton will whip up desserts.

The proceeds from this year's Dazzle event will go towards purchasing furniture, books and computers for the school's new library, as well as to upstart a toddler program. Tickets for the even are available for $125 per. Interested parties should contact Jessica Yamaguchi at (808) 946-4025, extension 103.

Postscript: For those visiting from out of town, this is a great way to stay close to your Waikiki hotel and experience 15 of our best restaurants...without leaving a ballroom!
