A Lobster Luau Wine Fest, Hawaii Style

With so many loyal readers hailing from the mainland, we thought we'd toss a Hawaiian-inspired item your way that might help keep a little "aloha" in your summer.
B on Hawaii friends (and stellar winemakers) Judd's Hill Winery are hosting their 3rd Annual Lobster Luau Wine Fest on August 9th, in the lovely Napa Valley. If you've never been in Napa in August, well, it's a damn fine time to be there. Vineyards are teeming with bulbous grapes, it's warm (with cool nights), and the calm before the storm that is "crush".

At 5:00 p.m., Judd's Hill winemaker Judd Finkelstein's Maikai Gents will take the stage and churn out Hawaiian standards (with a California twist, of course), as the wine bottles get uncorked. At 6:00 p.m., patrons will feast on whole Maine lobsters, fixin's, and a variety of Judd's Hill wines. Dancing, eating and drinking will ensue under the balmy Napa sky.

Tickets are $100 per person, and are sure to sell out. You've been warned! If you're in the Northern California area (or are in Hawai`i and need to get your mainland fix—with a side of Aloha), plan ahead and make reservations. The town of Sonoma has some great inns and hotels, and isn't a far drive from Judd's Hill. Get out there and blend your California grapes with some ukulele music and Maine lobsters!
