Hawaii’s own Outrigger Hotels and Resorts has just announced that it will manage the newly penned Outrigger Koh Samui Resort and Spa in Bhoput Beach, Thailand, as of February 1, 2011. The upscale property formerly known as the Destination Beach Resort features 81 luxury villas and suites, a beachside restaurant, a wellness center, three swimming pools, a kids club and multiple bars.
Located in the northeast corner of Samui Island, which is well-known for it’s tranquil, crystal-clear waters, the area is popular with family travelers—something that Outrigger has excelled in catering to within Hawaii, as well as New Zealand, Australia and throughout the Pacific.
Nearby are the Samui airport, tourist villages, Buddhist temples and statues, and a variety of both water and land-based activities. There is an abundant off-shore reef and national marine park (Angthong) nearby for dive and surf enthusiasts.
Direct flights to Samui can be reached from Hong Kong, Singapore, Bangkok and Krabi.
