A Fo' Real Rodeo At The Big Island's Parker Ranch

The Big Island's Parker Ranch will host its 45th Annual Independence Day Rodeo and Horse Race on Wednesday, July 4th at the Parker Ranch Rodeo Arena in Waimea. Talk about a unique opportunity in Hawaii...

Our state's biggest ranch is celebrating its 160th anniversary throughout the entire year of 2007, and for the occasion, the ranch is hosting a Paniolo Song Contest as well. The event coordinators, who have put forth the challenge to Hawaii residents to write a tune that depicts the Big Island's psniolo history and culture. The winning song will be announced -- and performed -- at the July 4th rodeo. Yee haw!

The event will feature all the rodeo classics: Horse races, team sorting, double mugging, dally team roping the unique to Hawaii "Po'o Wai". If you're still reading this an know what any one of these things mean, then it sounds like you're a prime candidate to attend. It's a must! Scrape the mold off them cowboy hats and boots, and head over to the Big Island for a rootin' tootin' good time.
