Dueling Ukuleles Take The Stage At Duke's In Waikiki

It doesn't get much more Hawaiian than the Duke's Ukes Contest, set for September 9, 2006. This inaugural event will showcase the island's top ukulele players in four age divisions. Held from 10 a.m. to noon at Duke's namesake restuarant, the contest will pit top players against each other, judging their style, speed, sound and knowledge of Hawaiian song.

Judging the event will be Duke's on Sunday headliner, Henry Kapono, and legendary performer Danny Kaleikini. Attendees will be best accommodated parking at the Ohana East Hotel on Kuhio Avenue in order to receive validated parking. For more information call (808) 922-2268.

The "Hanohano Ka Ukulele--Duke's Ukes Contest" is sponsored by the Outrigger Waikiki and the Pacific Music Foundation.
