Court of Master Sommeliers to Offer Class on O‘ahu

The internationally recognized Court of Master Sommeliers is offering a two-day introductory course plus a third day for those interested in taking the first-level “Certified Sommelier” exam on O‘ahu this November. Settling into two full days of lectures, discussion and tastings at MidPacific Country Club where the likes of master sommeliers Roberto Viernes and Patrick Okubo along with advanced sommelier Charles Fredy, will push your enthusiasm for wine into a full-fledged working knowledge of the industry.

Cost is $495 for the two-day course, which will take place on November 6 & 7 in Kailua; the full-day exam on Nov. 8 (to be held at Formaggio Grill in Kailua) is a separate $295.

The course is the launching ground for not only a career in the wine field, but towards becoming a master sommelier. Covered in this class are the various wine regions of the world, plus an overview of beers, spirits and sake. Tasting techniques are reviewed, which will aide in your wine evaluation skills.

To boot, anyone who signs up for the course will receive a one-year membership to the Guild of Sommeliers, which operates an incredibly comprehensive resource—the www.guildsomm.com website and professional networking tool.

You can sign up at www.mastersommeliers.org. Space will be limited to 80 people, so head on over and reserve your spot.
