Sticking with the truffles theme, we’ve been alerted to another event, this time on the isle of Maui. Pulehu Italian Grill is celebrating its first anniversary with a “Chocolate and Truffles Decadenza” on Wednesday, October 27, 2010. Executive chef Francois Milliet will command various food stations set up around the picturesque eatery for guests to sample, of which chocolate truffles are the common theme.
The restaurant, which has pledged to feature as much sustainable and local product as possible, will put forth dishes like “Braised beef short ribs with ginger coriander chocolate demi glace and Kula corn”, and “Surfing Goat Dairy cheese ravioli with white chocolate, Parmesan cream and prosciutto”. Other dishes include “Panko breaded island snapper with roasted fennel and black olives-chocolate tapenade”, as well as “Seared diver scallops and Hawaiian hearts of palms with Upcountry spinach salad and shaved black truffle”.
Naturally, things heat up at the dessert stations, which will include Chocolate Smores, Chocolate Fondue, Chocolate Pot de Crème, Waialua Dark Chocolate Walnut Crunch Bar and a few surprises.
There will be live music, and Kona Brewing Company will pair their robust selection of beers with many of the evening’s dishes. The event starts at 5:30 p.m. and will last for three hours. Partial proceeds will benefit the Maui County Farm Bureau. Pulehu is located inside the Westin Ka‘anapali Ocean Resort Villas.
