Ever watch "The Making of..." your favorite movie and think, "I could have done that"" Now's your chance hot shot.

The Big Island Film Festival, set for May 15 through 18, 2008 on the Island of Hawaii's, is accepting both short and feature-length narrative films to be screened at the upcoming 3rd annual event. The deadline for film submission is February 1, 2008.

Have a bunch of home video material you don't know what to do with" Splice it! Better yet, take the next few months to learn Final Cut Pro, and perhaps you'll be the next Lucas, Spielberg or Jarmusch.

Narrative short films must be 30 minutes or less, while feature length films are to be 60 minutes or longer. No documentaries are accepted at the Big Island Film Festival. Nominal entry fees average $50 -- so you won't have to call Harvey (Weinstein) for a loan before you submit. Not for this festival, anyway. Also, films shot in Hawaii or submitted by filmmakers who reside in Hawaii receive a 25% discount, just to help things along.

The festival features both local and international narrative features and shorts, in addition to hosting various actor and filmmaker panels, salutes, awards and parties.
