Boo Overtime! Yea Lavender-Sugar Body Scrubs!!

The 82-acre Kona Village Resort has heard the call of the wahine and initiated women's weekend retreat packages. With its ocean front, thatched-roof bungalows, award-winning culinary treats and beautiful backdrop on the Kohala Coast, there may not be a setting more ideal for a tranquil ladies weekend.

Purchasers of a "Wahine Unwind Weekend" package start with an "Unwinder" cocktail reception, complete with light pupus and drinks with playful names like "Are We There Yet?" It doesn't take executive chef Mark Tsuchiyama long to dish out his renowned Chocolate Crマme Brulee, over which ladies can hear about the offerings available to them over the coming 3 days.

A traditional Hawaiian gathering and 'oli chant start each morning for early risers, with Mauna Kea's 14,000 foot peak looming above the sunrise. Beachfront yoga follows, after which guests are ushered to a "Wahine Unwind" continental breakfast. From there, complimentary activities include snorkeling, kayak and tennis clinics, outrigger canoe rides and more.

The afternoons kick off with a "Wahine Wellness" session led by OB-GYN Dr. Patti Jade McGaff, a respected Big Island physician who incorporates nutritional and holistic medicinal practices with traditional Western philosophy.

No wahine weekend would be complete without a jaunt to the spa, where guests can opt for a "Heavenly Lavender Sugar Scrub with Crushed Rose Petals", which was developed specifically for this package. Toss in an aromatherapy massage or an exfoliating facial, and you'll float home -- with a to-go box filled with essential oils -- for you to sample at home.

We're guessing they won't have the same effect applied between work, errands and soccer practice pickups.

Rates begin at $249 per night; "Wahine Unwind Weekends" are offered on select weekends, which include August 17 to 19, and September 7 to 9. Call (800) 367-5290 or log on to www.KonaVillage.com for more information.

Also in September, Kona Village hosts master sommelier Brian Cronin, who tastes, shares and talks about select wines from Napa's Swanson Vineyards and Sonoma's Hanzell Vineyards. An intimate "Taste of the Village" event, held September 15 through 20th, the 5-day food and wine extravaganza is a great opportunity to experience the resort in addition to plenty of one-on-one time with a master in the wine field.
