'Imiloa, Mauna Kea's shiny new astronomy education center located on the Big Island, has officially opened for business. The $28 million, 40,000 square foot complex was conceived of more than 15 years and constructed with federal funds (through NASA) attained with the aid of Senator Inouye.
Showcasing work from both local and international science and cultural communities, 'Imiloa is open to the public. The education center recounts the scientific findings in the Mauna Kea volcano, as well as mixing its historical significance to the Hawaiian culture.
