In our never-ending quest to provide you, dear reader, with the latest and greatest in sustainable culinary happenings (among other things), we came across a rather unique individual whom we felt compelled to share with you.

The first in a pair of events that feature unrivaled authenticity is coming up this February, and it's not too late to join the party.

Most business owners know that in order to maintain a successful operation, one should exist in a location that warrants success. Philip K. White Architects in downtown Honolulu had always been ahead of its game. Swank Kaka'ako digs -- before Kaka'ako became the trendy design hub (and recently booming luxury condo locale) -- is where White headquartered his operations for years.

It is no secret that the teen travel market is the hardest to please -- ask any parent of a teenager. While an exciting age (in theory), it's one plagued by awkwardness more often than confidence, and the will to deem anything defined popular by society (or parents), "totally uncool."

This time last year I was asked to write a feature story for Honolulu Magazine on the subject of ocean lifestyle as found throughout the Windward hamlet of Kailua, Oahu. I interviewed about a dozen residents of the town. Some had been born and raised there. Some came in the early 60s. One was the head of the Kailua Chamber of Commerce.
